The company
Alberto del Biondi, a fashion design company based in Noventa Padovana known for its holistic approach to design on a global scale through collaborations and projects with leading international brands.

Brief
The objective of the delivery was to create visual concepts for the footwear industry in collaboration with the Eastpak brand. The concept of sustainability, a broader focus on the circular economy, and identifying a target audience part of Generation Y (millennials) and Z, were the main design constraints of the project.

The project
Authentic Green is the result of a design process aimed at conceiving an iconic and sustainable shoe that embodies the principles of the circular economy and is consistent with the Eastpak brand. The concept aims to interpret brand values, going beyond the conventionality with which shoes are designed, and is also a reference to the Authentic Green campaign launched by Eastpak in 2007, which sees a focus on the use of reclaimed materials.
The design intention is to dress a shoe proudly and unquestionably Eastpak, which with a small detail revolutionizes the compositional hierarchy of footwear. For this reason, the shoe takes up the characteristic flap of fabric that in Eastpak backpacks covers the zipper and here instead goes to cover the edge of the sole in an unconventional way.
The sustainability of the product is ensured by the use of recycled materials, such as the upper made of econyl, i.e., reclaimed nylon, and the use of stitching as the main assembly method that limits the use of glues with a view to disassembling the parts at the end of their life in keeping with the principles of the circular economy.
