Course:
ISDC/07 Computer and Multimedia Techniques
Year:
2024/2025
Lecturer:
Dario De Meo
List of topics covered:
This course provides students with fundamental skills in the use of major graphic design and layout software. The goal is to develop a practical mastery of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign programs, essential tools for creating digital and printed content. Through hands-on exercises and guided projects, students will learn techniques in image processing, layout creation, post-production and advanced photomontage. The module is structured to encourage progressive learning, from understanding the interface to advanced graphic workflow management.
Course-specific learning objectives:
The course aims to make students autonomous in the use of the software covered, providing them with the skills necessary to express ideas and visual concepts through digital tools. By the end of the course, students will be able to apply the operating logic of each software and use its potential to create coherent and effective graphic designs. Learning will be aimed at developing a professional approach to digital design, combining creativity and technical precision.
Mode of teaching delivery:
Classes will alternate between theoretical moments and practical activities, with guided exercises on each software. Individual and group projects will be proposed, aimed at solving concrete design problems. The teaching approach will be oriented toward direct experience, with the goal of students acquiring an effective working method and critical ability in choosing the most suitable tools for each specific project context.
Mode of examination/evaluation:
The final exam will be divided into two tests: a theoretical test with open-ended and multiple-choice questions to check understanding of the concepts covered, and a practical test based on a design brief, which will require the combined use of all three software studied during the course. The evaluation will take into account the technical correctness, design consistency and executive quality of the papers produced.
