Cortina Design Weekend - SID

Event

From July 12 to 14, the second edition of the Cortina design weekend was held, bringing together professionals, entrepreneurs and enthusiasts in the field. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the future of design and its role in the relationship with the mundane, scheduling a series of lectures, meetings and exhibitions in both Cortina and Borca.

Also on display at the event were design objects created during the “Training Camp” (April 15-19, 2024) on the theme of the cube, created by Sid students in collaboration with Contemporary Dolomites and with the support of Cortina for us.

The project

The project presents a series of prototypes, designed and developed by students, intended to address issues related to mountains, of which it aims to give an insight into their characteristics, peculiarities and critical issues.

The macro-theme is training, to be understood in the more concrete sense of dolomite or landscape training to training as a concept of personal growth through the layered acquisition of notions on a given subject.

Students tried to shift the point of view from that of the “valley man” to that of the mountain context, to bring out critical or characteristic aspects, with the intent of highlighting the often disrespectful or illogical behavior that many people have toward a fragile and complex ecosystem such as the mountains, which first must be understood, then, eventually, experienced.
