Brief
In times like these, we need to bring out the best part of us, despite the world outside showing us the opposite. The year 2020 was the year of adaptation. It was the year to reshape the present with creative solutions by turning unpleasant moments into something we could cherish.
Design helps us use situations to our advantage. It helps us improve everyday meeting opportunities to better deal with what the pandemic has caused society. This project aims to create a product that is communicative, innovative, and easy to produce.
During the brainstorming process, the four areas of interest were analyzed: lockdown, smart working, safety and social distance, the latter being the one that directed the project.
Social distance seems to be a problem not only for adults, but also for children, who are usually used to sharing the play area with other children. At that age we learn to create relationships, which are very important for the development of our personality. We learn the power of sharing and respect.
One of the first ideas during the research was to create games that would still entertain and educate, as well as help in this pandemic experience.
Project
The first idea was to develop a game to help children respect social distance. It was going to be a simple, track-like game where players could exchange a toy. Although this idea was encouraging, it was decided to change for something more interactive and at the same time pedagogical.
Thus was born the game of the goose where players not only play, but can learn from the card game. Each round offers three cards that contain instructions on safety measures to help prevent the spread of the virus.
How does it work?
At least two players are needed at the beginning of the game. First the cards must be grouped with the same animal or symbol. Each card has instructions that must be followed. The two players cannot be in the same house, in which case they must go to the previous house. The players who go through the last house win. Choose a token, roll the dice and good luck!
