What is it for

The task of the Council is to:

  • Address requests and proposals to the Academic Council concerning the educational organization, operation of the Institute and student services.
  • Promote para-institutional activities, events and student demonstrations.
  • Be consulted by the Academic Council and the Board of Directors on regulatory changes and major decisions.

Who can apply

All students regularly enrolled in Scuola Italiana Design courses are eligible to apply for the Council.

Mode of Election:

Elections for the Student Council are held every three years.
Here’s how it works:

  • Electorate: all students enrolled in courses, divided by sections.
  • Voting: each student can express up to three preferences for candidates.
  • Electoral system: voting is done according to a majoritarian system. The three candidates with the most votes will be elected, with the first two representatives joining the Academic Council.
  • In case of a tie: the year of registration or age is considered to determine the winner.

If the required quorum (50% + 1 of those eligible to vote) is not reached, a second ballot will be held.

Term of office

Each member of the Council serves a three-year term, renewable once consecutively. In case of forfeiture (termination of the course of study, resignation, or unexcused absence), replacements are made according to the election ranking.

Organization

The Council consists of three representatives and meets periodically:

  • Meetings can take place in person or through online platforms (Zoom).
  • Student members of the Council are excused from classes to attend meetings, assemblies and Academic Councils.
  • At the end of each meeting, minutes are taken and filed by the Institute Secretary.

Student assemblies

Students can request an assembly to discuss issues of common interest. Meetings are called with the permission of the Institute Director, and the Council is responsible for reporting on the Institute’s activities and presenting decisions made at the Academic Council.

Amendments to the Regulations

Any changes to the regulations may be proposed by the Council or 50% + 1 of the students and must be approved by the Academic Council.
